Sport is a broad human activity which includes both a competitive and an amateur aspect and finds extended applications in the fields of tourism and recreation. It is a rapidly growing industry with a significant economic and social impact. The professional approach to the sports industry creates the need for professionals and specialized executives in sports administration who are expected to deal with various business aspects of sports and recreation.
The Department of Sports Organization and Management of the University of the Peloponnese provides the necessary knowledge, skills and experience to students regarding the financial and administrative aspect of sports. The valuable teaching and laboratory members of staff, as well as the research assistants, successfully support the students’ education and training process, combining theoretical knowledge with its practical application in modern sports facilities. At the same time, it gives students the opportunity to organize and attend sporting events, scientific conferences and participate in the activities of the Research Laboratories operating within the Department.
The aim of the Department is to train leaders who will work in many different areas of the sports industry, providing them with a flexible and quality education. Apart from the undergraduate program, the Department also offers postgraduate & doctoral studies programs in contemporary and competitive aspects of sports administration. In addition, our students have the opportunity to study at leading University Institutions abroad, with which our Department cooperates and which provide full recognition for the duration of their studies. It should be noted that our Department is certified for the quality of the undergraduate studies program by the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education (HAHE).
Through its curriculum, the Department of Sports Organization and Management aspires to produce qualified professionals in the most important areas of the modern sports market, such as the management of sports organizations, sports marketing, sports law, sports finances, sports events organization, sports facilities management, sponsorship, sports tourism and sports recreation management, sports management for the disabled. In the Sports Organization and Management Department we continue to work firmly in accordance to our goals, having a clear knowledge of the needs of the sports market.
